Portfolio Reviews

Tiffany’s Portfolio

I like how she related all 9 aspects to her own life.  She thought of many was to relate to the topics that I had not thought of.  I was a little surprised that she did the majority of her shopping online.  I guess E-commerce has gotten bigger than I thought it is.  In the health and wellness area I can relate to the love for video games and the possible risks they can pose.

Emily’s Portfolio

The way that digital law was interpreted was a different than I.  She took a look at the piracy of music, while I choose to look more at the aspect of malicious software.  I thought that it was interesting that she choose to talk about Craig’s list.  I had not even considered that as a form of digital commerce.  I would have to say that Alex found more ways to relate class experiences to digital citizenship than I did.

Amy’s Portfolio

I really enjoyed the introduction.  I never really thought about how many devices the cell phone has replaced.  It is staggering how many functions phones have today.  The way digital rights and digital etiquette were put together was appropriate.  They are quite similar, because we have the right and the responsibility of proper etiquette online.  Over all Amy’s look at digital citizenship was very informative.

Kathryn’s Portfolio

The section on digital communication was a little intriguing.  I know that people spend a lot of time on facebook, I would not have thought half someone’s waking time would be spent on it though.  I definitely agree with Kathryn’s conclusion about digital literacy.  In today’s world being digitally literate is exceedingly important.  I was surprised to see that digital security was of utmost importance for her.  It is important but a little less of a concern I thought.

Lindsey’s Portfolio

I agree with Lindsey’s conclusion that we do not realize that we are all digital citizens.  It is something that we all take for granted today.  It was interesting how she pointed out that the teachers of digital literacy need to learn how to present the information in a way interesting to today’s youth.  I would not have thought about having a whole section on cell phones.  It is appropriate though, as they have become a part of everyday life.

Sara’s Portfolio

In the digital etiquette section, she discusses etiquette on Facebook.  This is very important as many different people and organizations use Facebook to do research on you.  I also agree with Sara’s assessment of digital literacy, it is something that we cannot live without today.  Another idea of hers that I agree with is we all have freedoms and rights that are afforded us by the internet.

Mohammed’s Portfolio

Mohammed’s look at a digital identity is interesting. It encompasses digital law, etiquette, and rights and responsibilities. It is important to establish a separate digital entity, to protect yourself and your information.  It is also interesting how the nine elements were grouped.  He chooses to group them into three distinct categories.  These categories show the relationship between some of the elements.

Mackenzie’s Portfolio

It is interesting that Mackenzie admits that she does not take the precautions that she should.  This is something that a lot of people can relate to.  The precautions only come as an afterthought.  She also found a way to incorporate all of our assignments into the nine elements.  I found a hard time doing that, maybe with a little more thought I would have been able to do this.

Suzy’s Portfolio

I find it interesting how much emphasis is put on the scholarly use of the Internet.  I agree with this view, the Internet is an indispensable tool in the classroom.  It puts an almost limitless source of information at your finger tips.  I also agree with her view that we would all feel like there is a hole in our lives if we no longer had the internet.  It has become a part of our lives.
